Welcome to the second video in our series, where we introduce you to the key partners contributing their expertise to the BIO-STREAMS project. Our first video featured Clinical Coordinator Izidor Mlakar from University of Maribor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, Humadex research group, who gave us an overview of the project’s ambitions and current work.
This second video, released during our #WorldObesityMarch campaign, shines a spotlight on a vital partner who plays a key role in engaging with stakeholders who can shape the lives of our children and adolescents: school heads.
The School Heads Association (ESHA) is an international community for European School Heads, with both EU and non-EU countries represented. Its members are national organisations for school heads and deputy school heads within (pre) primary, secondary, and vocational education.
ESHA’s Vital Role in BIO-STREAMS
ESHA is actively involved in school pilots and co-creation workshops, raising awareness of our project within a broad network of school heads and teachers. As Eszter Salamon, Director at Parents International and ESHA spokesperson, explains, the role of teachers goes far beyond teaching. Children are being educated, and they need to receive guidance and be led by example.
Watch the video to discover more of ESHA’s role!
School Heads possess the power to shape children and adolescents’ lives at school beyond the classroom. ESHA’s vision includes ensuring children have healthy food choices and sufficient time for physical activity, alongside school heads and teacher adopting student-centred methodologies.

On 21 March 2025, ESHA will host the AVS School Leaders Congress in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. This is a crucial opportunity for school leaders to connect and discuss their role in shaping school development.
