From 2 to 3 June, BIO-STREAMS hosted its 7th General Assembly in the historic Portuguese city of Braga. With the project now in its final year, partners gathered both in-person and online to review progress and establish priorities for addressing childhood obesity through personalised interventions.
The meeting opened with the ICCS coordinator detailing recent organisational achievements and current priorities. This transitioned into comprehensive updates across various work packages, focusing on scientific publications in progress, clinical considerations, and discussions on prospective and retrospective studies.
The consortium also evaluated the project’s technical framework, placing a strong emphasis on risk mitigation, the ActiveHealth app, platform dashboard functionality, and critical issues surrounding data security and privacy.

Collaborative Initiatives and Future Outlook
The assembly’s second day broadened the focus to impact and outreach, beginning with a guest presentation by the coordinator of the OBCT project, Jeroen Lakerveld. Discussions then shifted to communication activities, dissemination efforts, and impact measures designed to guarantee the project’s long-term sustainability.
Looking ahead, the team will heavily focus on community engagement. Partners discussed upcoming school workshops across the pilot countries and brainstormed the logistics for a major impending initiative: a school hackathon. These final-stage efforts aim to successfully unite educators, parents, and children as BIO-STREAMS continues its vital work.
